An antique ceramic pot that dates back to the early 1900s and originates from the southern Italian region of Calabria. This storage pot would have been primarily used for storing a family’s most prized food, and is a rare find in particular with its intact lid. The pot is charmingly hand painted with a leaf motif on the lid and side handles, and is contrasted with a linear design and pastel colours encircling the body of the pot and the edge of the lid. The colours in green, pink and blue are framed by ochre brown and set against a soft buttermilk glaze. This one of a kind handmade piece of pottery with its well-loved patina has an elegant form with two crescent handles and oval shape. The collectable pot would be ideal as a decorative display piece or storage vessel.
