Vintage Abstract Amphora

A vintage hand-thrown amphora with a beautiful form and remarkably abstract surface pattern caused naturally over the years. This amphora has been used for many years as a vessel for olive oil and dates back to the mid-1900s. The vintage vessel has a unique patina and immense character and charm, with its spontaneous mustard stripe set against a buttermilk glaze. What renders it a one-of-a-kind-piece are these signs of daily use - the olive oil seeping through and causing a reaction with the surface glaze to create a soft lilac/grey contrast pattern. Today this special amphora can be used as a bud vase or as a decorative display piece.

Found in Ostuni

the charming, white-washed, hill-top town in Puglia known as ‘città bianca’ (or white city)

Dimensions: H33cm x W18cm x D18cm

These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
