Vintage Abstract Hand Painted Bowl

€140.00
Sold

A vintage, hand painted terracotta serving bowl that has a thoroughly modern appeal. What makes it truly unique is the spontaneous, spirited motif that adorns the inside of the bowl - in a vibrant green and black set against the buttermilk glaze. Despite the abstract patterns that decorated this and other antique crockery from the region, these bowls were used by families for everyday life. The old terracotta pottery of Puglia is thick and robust, and has a lovely handmade, rustic feel to it as well as special patina. This vintage bowl has a perfect form, and would make a lovely decorative display item or centrepiece, especially for fresh fruit.

Found in Ostuni

the charming hilltop town of the Valle d’Itria known as la città bianca (or ‘white city’)

Dimensions: H10cm x W26.5cm x D26.5cm

These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
