Vintage Bi-Colour Glaze Amphora
This vintage amphora features a unique raised relief running down both sides. The 3-D ripple effect has been created by the makers thumb highlighting its hand crafted quality. The robust form of the hand thrown amphora also has a wonderful pistachio green glaze that is set against a buttermilk base. Originally used for water (or wine) to keep it fresh for farmers working the land on those long, hot summer days. This original piece has a matching ‘little sister’ as seen in the images. Today, it can be used as a bud vase or as a decorative display piece.
Found in Ostuni
the charming hilltop town of the Valle d’Itria know as la città bianca (or ‘white city’).
Dimensions: H27cm x W16cm x D15cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
