Vintage Candle Holder by Antonio D'Andrea
This handmade candle holder by revered Lecce artist Antonio D’Andrea with its chirping bird and decorative scrolls has a whimsical art deco feel. D’Andrea was most prolific during the 1930s and 1940s creating some of the city’s most inspired lighting, window screens, gates and doorways, as well as interior detailing, for the city’s most important churches, palazzi, and villas. His work is recognisable by his signature green reminiscent of verdigris, the incredible design details inspired by both local and exotic flora and fauna, as well as his ability to give forged iron movement and a lightness never seen before. This vintage mid-century sculpture with its characterful patina would make a lovely addition to any space or home, and would be ideal paired with the Antonio D’Andrea plate holders.
