Vintage Hand Painted Jug by Fratelli Martina
A charmingly rustic hand thrown jug originally used for wine or water. Its unique hand painted design and robust shape and spout, is characteristic of the Salento and was made in the town of San Pietro in Lama (by Fratelli Martina, the maker’s mark on the bottom). This vintage piece is hand decorated with cobalt and indigo blue, earthy orange and pistachio green lines on a buttercream slip glazed base - that are reminiscent of the Salento elements that characterise the region - the seas and the wind. The abstract hand-painted effect gives the pitcher a delightful energy and spontaneity. It’s the ideal vessel for fresh flowers or as a decorative display piece.
Found in San Pietro in Lama
the small town in Puglia historically known for its ceramic craft.
Dimensions: H24cm x W17cm x D14cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
