Vintage Iron Candle Holder by D'Andrea
This handmade candle holder by revered Lecce artist Antonio D’Andrea with its serpent-like decorative scrolls has a whimsical gothic art deco feel. D’Andrea was most prolific during the 1930s and 1940s creating some of the city’s most inspired lighting, window screens, gates and doorways, as well as interior detailing, for the city’s most important churches, palazzi, and villas. His work is recognisable by the incredible design details inspired by both local and exotic flora and fauna, as well as his ability to give forged iron movement and a lightness never seen before. This vintage sculptural piece with its characterful form and intricate detailing would make a lovely addition to any home.
