Vintage Multi-Candle Holder
This vintage handmade candle holder with 4 ‘spouts’ has a wonderful mustard glaze and elegant proportion. The skill of the potter is evident from the 3-D flower and leaf design that gives it an arts-and-crafts-inspired feel. This form is typical of the Puglia region, as an abundance of olive oil meant that oil lamps were predominantly used over candles. Originally the ceramic vessel would have been filled at the top with oil, and wicks placed at the 4 openings. Today it can be easily adapted to fit candles or as a decorative centre piece, to brighten up any home or space.
Found in Ostuni
the charming hilltop town of the valle d’Itria known as la città bianca (or ‘white city’).
Dimensions: H30cm x W28cm x D24cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
