This vintage terracotta piece known as a ‘pignata’ is typical of pots that were used in southern Italy for cooking legumes up until the 1950s/60s. This cooking pot with its 2 handles has a unique splatter effect glaze that sets it apart from other ‘pignate’. The unique patina and glaze with its greens and creams are set against the earthy red terracotta base. It would be ideal as a decorative display piece, a vase for fresh flowers or as a storage vessel.
