Vintage Slip Glaze Pot with Lid
This vintage pot with its unique slip glaze was traditionally used to store food, including a family’s much valued mother yeast. What sets this mid-century piece apart is the mesmerising swirl glaze of pistachio green and varying shades of ochre brown that are set against a buttermilk base. Dating back to the mid 1900s, the hand thrown ceramic piece has an organic form, with two handles and its original, intact lid. Today it would make an ideal decorative display piece or storage vessel. Add a splash of colour to any kitchen or table setting, especially when pared with the matching platter as seen in the images.
Found in Lecce
the Baroque jewel and capital of the Salento.
Dimensions: H15cm x W22cm x D22cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
