Vintage Spotted Glaze Jug
A truly unique vintage jug with its spotted pattern, luminous glaze and beautiful form. The elegant spherical body with handcrafted spout and handle, is made distinctive by the all over inky colour splashes, reminiscent of an abstract animal print or light-hearted polka dot. The luscious and rich terracotta orange glaze has an iridescent quality that really makes it pop. This large, hand-thrown terracotta jug may have been a utilitarian piece (the thick clay keeping wine or water fresh and cool in the summer months), however it also has a delightful whimsy that gives it its distinctive quality. Today the mid-century jug can be used as a decorative display piece to add impact to any space or a unique vase for fresh flowers.
