Originally made to store wine for farmers on the land and keep it cool in the summer months, this vintage piece of pottery originates from the Calabrese town of Seminara - famous for its age old ceramic tradition. The wonderful colour combination of sunflower yellow at the top and hues of turquoise green at the base, are common colours of Seminara pottery. This large hand-thrown ceramic amphora has a bold sculptural form with ridges across the body and unique handles that are an extension of the spout. This vintage vessel would be perfect as vase for fresh flowers adding a splash of colour to any home or space.
