Vintage Vineyard Watering Vessel

Sold

A vintage mid-century galvanised metal watering urn that was used for spraying the vines in a Pugliese vineyard. The unique pastel blue patina is due to the reaction of the sulphur used in the spray, and adds to its perfectly-aged charm. Made by hand, this vessel has a lovely amphora-like form, and has a dignity and elegance that belies its very utilitarian purpose. Its characterful patina has evolved through daily use, exposure to the elements and the passing of time, and dates back to the mid-1900s. This rustic, farmhouse-style piece would be an ideal vase for fresh or dried flowers. There is also a matching vessel, as seen in the photos, perfect to create an impactful display and inject colour into your home or space.

Found in Ostuni

the charming hilltop town of the valle d’Itria known as la città bianca (or ‘white city’).

Dimensions: H42cm x W28cm x D28cm

These are handmade antiques that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
