Sold

An antique unglazed confit pot with 3 handles from the southern Italian region of Calabria. This imposing piece dates back to the 1800s and was originally used for preserving foods in olive oil. Its contents would have been scooped out with a ladle and covered with a linen cloth or wooden lid. This handmade pot is unique due to its large size and proportion as well as sculptural form and the organic, textural surface. For economic purposes these confit pots were usually glazed internally (which has eroded over time) and left raw externally. This antique pot has that magical patina that comes about authentically from a long life span and many years of use as a domestic vessel. Add some rustic farmhouse charm to your home or outdoor space with this hand thrown piece. Create impact with the matching antique vessels as seen in the images.

Found in Lecce

Dimensions: H42cm x W36cm x D36cm
