XL Antique Creme Glaze Bowl With Fluted Edge
This hand thrown bowl known as a ‘pendriale’ dates back to the early 1900s from the southern Italian region of Puglia and is particularly unique due to its gently undulating outer edge. The extra large vessel was originally used as a ‘wash basin’, most commonly to wash fruit and vegetables, with its fluted rim created to aid its lifting. The rustic bowl features a charming, glazed interior in a creamy buttermilk hue, which is a rare find. The large bowl has aged beautifully with that authentic, magical patina from years of daily use, with the external clay unglazed and on display. The antique vessel is perfect to add some farmhouse charm to a kitchen or table setting, or as a unique storage vessel.
Found in Lecce
the baroque jewel and capital of the Salento.
Dimensions: H27cm x W44cm x D44cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration.
