XL Antique Green Glaze Ceramic Bottle
A one-of-a-kind hand thrown ceramic bottle dating back to the mid 1800s. This rare piece is imposing due to its extra-large size and magical iridescent green glaze. Originally made to hold wine, this antique vessel has striking proportions, with its half glaze around the upper edge giving way to the raw clay at its base. It has developed a beautiful rustic patina that only daily use and the passing of time can authentically bring about. It also features a wonderful ochre brown stripe giving it even more character. Most likely brought about by 'mistake' during the firing process, where the glaze from other pots would have dripped on to the bottle. The XL historic example with its vivacious green colour would be ideal as a decorative display piece to inject some colour and farmhouse charm into any home or space.
Found in Lecce
the baroque jewel and capital of the Salento.
Dimensions: H46cm x W26cm x D26cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration. These individual characteristics are part of the charm and unique quality of each piece. Please note, colour may vary from screen to screen.
