XL Antique Unglazed Amphora
An antique amphora from the Puglia region with an elegant shape and unglazed surface highlighting its hand-thrown form. Originally this XL example would have been used for holding wine or water and the thick, robust clay keeping it fresh. The amphora features a fluted spout, elongated handles, and sgraffito lines circling the upper part of the body. The raw clay has a wonderful earthy quality with its unique texture and patina brought about by daily use over the years. Today this vessel can be used as a vase or to create a truly impactful decorative display, adding some farmhouse charm to any home or space.
Found in Ostuni
the charming hilltop town of the valle d’Itria known as ‘la città bianca’ (or white city).
Dimensions: H45cm x W29cm x D26cm
These are handmade antique ceramics that are perfectly imperfect and some have been used for generations, so please expect some cracks, and chips, and discolouration.
